When you are hit by a mild summer breeze, standing in the middle of the grass, long hair flowing around you… Who hasn’t thought about this in their lives at least? After all, long hair does exude any magic that no other type of hair can match. However, once you have the long hair of your dreams, you will find that styling can be a huge pain. Believe me, I know the struggle on a deep emotional level. I have long hair all my life, I know that if your arm starts to hurt and still looks cute, how frustrating it is that hair doesn’t take too long. So, here are my favorite hairstyles, I like to do it on your hair, your hair will be gorgeous!
1. Floral Half Updo
Be it a fancy wedding to attend or your prom night, here’s a beautiful hairstyle that will make you the belle of the ball. This twisted half updo gives off a flirtatious vibe thanks to its floral adornments and curly styling. Just pair it with a cute floral dress and get ready for everyone to fall in love with you.
What You Need
- Heat protectant
- 1 inch curling iron
- Bobby pins
- Fresh/artificial flowers
- Light hold hairspray
How To Style
- Apply some heat protectant all over your hair.
- Curl all your hair from root to scalp with a curling iron, working on individual 2 inch sections of hair at a time.
- Part your hair down the middle.
- From the front, on the left side of your partition, pick up a 3 to 4 inch section of hair and twist it right till the end.
- Pin this twisted section of hair at the back of our head, slightly on the right side.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 on the right side of your head.
- Pin some artificial or fresh flowers right under the twisted sections of hair.
- Spritz on some light hold hairspray to prevent your curls from unraveling through the day.
2.Headband Braid
Who doesn’t love adding a bit of a retro vibe to their look? Do exactly that with this retro-inspired braided style that that will leave you looking oh-so-elegant. The bangs and the cloth headband add to the adorbs quotient of the whole look.
What You Need
- Hair brush
- Hair elastic
- Cloth headband/headscarf
How To Style
- Get your hair cut in some thick straight cut bangs.
- Brush out all the knots and tangles from it.
- Divide your hair into 3 sections and simply braid it right till the end.
- Put on your cloth headband or tie your headscarf right behind your bangs to finish off the look.
3.Beachy Waves
This list wouldn’t be complete without a good beachy waves style, now, would it? So, whip out that big curling iron of yours and get curling! And with just a little bit of sea salt spray and some brushing, watch your hair transform into perfect beachy waves.
What You Need
- Heat protectant
- 1.5 inch curling iron
- Sea salt spray
- Hair brush
How To Style
- Prep your washed and dried hair with some heat protectant.
- Picking up big 2 inch sections of hair at a time, curl all your hair.
- Generously spritz on sea salt spray all over your curls and run a hair brush through them to give them some texture and finish off the look.
4.Fishtail Pigtails
Just because you’re all grown up now doesn’t mean you have to leave your favorite pigtails style behind. In fact, with a bit of variation in its styling, you can create a hairstyle that is as intricate as it gets. Just fishtail your pigtails instead of braiding them normally and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
What You Need
- Texturizing spray
- Hair elastics
- Hat
How To Style
- Spritz on some texturizing spray all over your hair.
- Part your hair on one side.
- Divide all your hair vertically into 2 sections.
- Pick up the left section and tie it into a ponytail.
- Split this ponytail into 2 sections to fishtail braid them.
- To fishtail braid, alternately pick up a thin section of hair from the outer side of one section and add it to the inner side of the other section.
- Keep repeating the previous step until you’ve fishtail braided right till the end.
- Tie the end of your fishtail braid with a hair elastic.
- Cut off the hair elastic at the top of your braid.
- Tug apart and loosen your braid to make it look wider and give it some dimension.
- Repeat steps 4 to 10 on the right section of your hair.
- Put on your hat to finish off the look.
5.Fishtail Accent
A fun way to add a bit of spunk to your hair is to go for braided accents. They add a bit of oomph while still maintaining the beauty of your open hair look. A texturized fishtail accent done on some beachy waves is a great look to sport during the summers.
What You Need
- Heat protectant
- 2 inch curling iron
- Hair elastic
- Texturizing spray
How To Style
- Apply heat protectant all over your washed and dried hair.
- Loosely curl all your hair.
- Shake out the curls with your hands to give them a more relaxed look.
- Part your hair on one side.
- From the side of your parting with more hair, pick up a 4 inch section of hair from the top of your head.
- Split this section of hair into 2 sections.
- Fishtail braid these 2 sections by alternately picking up a thin section of hair from the outer side of one section and adding it to the inner side of the other section.
- Once your fishtail braid has reached about 3/4th of the way down, secure it with a hair elastic.
- Finish off the look with a few spritzes of texturizing spray all over your hair.
6.Feathered Layers
Never underestimate the power of a good ol’ blowdryer. Not only is it meant for drying your hair, it also works amazingly to create the most gorgeous feathered ends. Just grab your round brush and your trusty blowdryer, and you will not be disappointed.
What You Need
- Leave-in conditioner
- Round brush
- Blowdryer
How To Style
- Apply some leave-in conditioner to your washed and dried hair.
- Blowdry your hair by brushing it down with a round brush. Make sure you pull your hair from different directions to give it volume.
- Wrap the very ends of your hair about halfway around the round brush when blowdrying to give them a feathered out effect.
- Flip your head forward and shake out your hair to add some texture to it and finish off the look.
7.Sleek High Ponytail
If Blake Lively is sporting a hairstyle, then you damn well need to try it out yourself. And if you’re going for an edgy and badass look, then even more so. This super sleek ponytail style is equal parts bold and chic.
What You Need
- Heat protectant
- Straightening iron
- Fine toothed comb
- Smoothening serum
- Hair elastic
How To Style
- Prep your hair with some heat protectant.
- Straighten all your hair until it is poker straight.
- Rub some smoothening serum all over the teeth of your fine toothed comb.
- Use this comb to sleek back your hair and tie it into a high ponytail and finish off the look.
8.Relaxed Side Fishtail Braid
Now, there are many hairstyles that look great on pretty embroidered cotton blouses. But this one has got to be my personal favorite. A basic fishtail braid, when loosened and given some texture, looks even more elegant than it already is.

How To Style
- Part your hair on one side.
- Tie all your hair in a side ponytail.
- Divide your ponytail into 2 sections.
- Fishtail braid these 2 sections by alternatingly picking up a few strands of hair from the outer side of one section and adding it to the inner side of the other section.
- Once you have fishtail braided right till the end, secure the ends with a hair elastic.
- Loosen your braid down the center to make it look more relaxed and finish off the look.
9.Beachy Waves Low Ponytail
Looking for a hairstyle that will show the indie-grunge side of your personality to the world? Well, your search ends here! This wavy low ponytail style is as simple as it gets. And with sections left out to frame your face, this style works perfectly to contour the structure of your face.
What You Need
- Sea salt spray
- Hair elastic
How To Style
- Spritz some sea salt spray all over your hair to give it some wavy texture.
- Part your hair down the middle.
- Leaving out a few sections of hair to frame your face, tie the rest of your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.
- Pick up a thin section of hair from your ponytail and wrap it around the base to hide the hair elastic from view.
- Secure this wrapped up section of hair with a bobby pin to finish off the look.
10.Voluminous Curls
You know how in all those high school movies the average nerd goes through a makeover and comes out with perfect hair? More often than not, these are the kind of gorgeously blown out curls that she is sporting. Get your own magical makeover hair by trying out this voluminous curls look.

- Round brush

How To Style
- Blowdry your washed, wet hair while brushing it down to straighten it out.
- Apply some heat protectant.
- Picking up 2 inch sections of hair at a time, curl the lower half of all your hair.
- Spritz on some hairspray to prevent your curls from unraveling through the day.
